Stem cells are progenitor cells that is, they have the potential to become any cell type in the body. One of the main characteristics of stem cells is their ability to self-renew or multiplication. Stem cells can develop into blood cells, heart, bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, skin, muscle, brain, etc. There are different sources of stem cells, but they all have the same ability to develop into multiple cell types.
